Obligatory Obama Post

Prior to this post, I’ve tumbled exactly once about Barack Obama, unlike 90% of my Tumblr cohorts. Don’t get me wrong, I voted for him in the primary and will most certainly be voting for him in November, but I’m not drinking the Kool-Aid like everyone else in my age bracket seems to be. It could be my general apathetic views on the American political system, but I’m not compelled to reblog 900 messianic photos of the dude. He’s an amazing speaker, seems really genuine, and I’d totally hang out with him and play Mario Kart and stuff. But is he my savior? No. That spot is reserved for Jesus and/or Steve Jobs.

One thing I am excited about is the very real prospect of a Black family taking charge in this country. I joked with my roommates last night that fried chicken would become our national food. How fucking amazing would that be? Like, Free Fried Chicken Fridays? But I digress. Voting for Obama simply because he is black is stupid, however, you’d have to be the Uncle Tom of all Uncle Toms to NOT be excited about this as a black person. But you know what I’m more excited about than Barack? Michelle. Michelle Obama seems to me to be the perfect blend of class, poise, and hood. Bitch looks like she gets work done. If not with sass, then with brute strength. Have you seen her arms? Work. Done.
